OOPS! Sorry if your past NEWS and CALENDAR submissions were overlooked.
Due to an error on my part in how certain email addresses were set up for forwarding, I had not been receiving notification when news and calendar info was submitted. I fixed the problem, but I want to express my sincere regrets to all who submitted news and events to the calendar in the past few months that never got published. Keep the faith and continue to post on Splanky.
Thanks for your support

This year (our sixth) we offer something familiar and something new. The familiar is that we have the return of Naomi Uyama and Mike Faltesek as instructors. The new is that this year we are excited to welcome for the first time Nina Gilkenson and Peter Strom! All four will team up to teach our intermediate and beginner tracks. That's right, we have the return of the beginner track for the those new to lindy and those who may still be unsure if they're ready to move to an intermediate level class. In an effort to let the beginners absorb as much as possible, we're keeping the class sizes small and only having two classes each day. And the beginners will benefit from the instruction of the same world class instructors who are teaching the intermediate classes!
Once again we are putting the focus on our local musical talent at our dances. Jammin' favorites, Gypsy Roots (Hot Club of France-style hot jazz) make a return appearance as does Swiss Swank Account, although this year we're going with a small group (sextet) version as a change of pace. And of course we wrap up the weekend with the trad jazz sounds of the Doctors of Jazz. Plus the popular late night dances with quality DJs (TBA), free refreshments to keep you going, and some downright nice and friendly dancers from all over!
The weekend schedule and instructor bios are up on the website. Workshop descriptions will be posted soon and registration will open sometime in late August. Please save the date and join us!

Hey Guys! We decided to move the Lawrence Swing Night from the ECM to Camelot II for a while, until it gets cooler and we can reassess the location situation. Here’s the night info as it is now:
• Who? KU Swing Society
• What? Tuesday Swing Night
• When? Every Tuesday night from 9pm-midnight; The beginners' lessons are from 9pm-9:45pm and opening dancing starts right after that!
• Where? Camelot II at 117 Massachusetts St, Lawrence, KS
How Much? Just $5 for the whole night!
I realize that it is a really big price jump from before but to make up for the raised price (and raised rent!), our night is in a great setting, has a great floor, and, most importantly, it has Air Conditioning!
